A Little Fun for you

A little stamping fun to share with you! Both of these cards use the Brayer Tapping technique featured in the Feb./March '09 issue of Technique Junkies.
On the 'For You' card I used kiwi, teal and black cardstock and caribbean kpad ink. I outlined the solid images with a white gel pen to pull them out a bit.
The 'Thanks so Much' card uses eggplant and wasabi cardstock and royal satin kpad ink.

And Finally.... the last two!

Hello again! I was having so much fun with these images it was hard to stop!! These are the last two sophisticated ladies that I have to share... for now anyway! Each uses the same stamp image by Rubbernecker... but I colored and designed them differently.
This card in aqua uses a silken mist background (TJ issue Oct. '06) that I embossed with a cuttlebug folder. It is so hard to capture that shimmer in a photo! I do wish you could see it.
This second card in shades of lime, uses sections of fossil stone (TJ issue Apr. '06) for the panels. Again, lots of accents were added to her gown with Stickles. The black base layer was embossed with a cuttlebug folder. I hope you've enjoyed these cards.

Even More Sophisticated Ladies

Hello Friends
Here are two more of my sophisticated ladies cards to share with you. You'll notice I used the same stamp image by Rubbernecker to create the two different cards.
The pink 'Head over Heels' card uses a silken mist (TJ issue Oct. '06) background and I accented her with fibers.
The tangerine 'Love Thing' card uses a modified fossil stone (TJ issue Apr. '06). In this case modified means I made a mistake but the background was still worth saving;)
Both cards were accented with Stickles to dress up her gown.

Enjoy

More Sophisticated Ladies

Goodmorning Friends
I have 2 more in my current sophisticated ladies series to share today. All the cards in this series are 7 1/2" x 4" to fit into a business size envelope.
The first one here in browns has more of a woodsy, manly feel. No twinklers or glitter on her! The base layer is Camouflage technique (TJ issue Oct. '08). The deep brown layer framing my main image is a specialty cardstock from Papertemptress, Plike Brown... it has a wonderful feel to it and worked perfectly with this card. After the brass brads were added, I hammered them down giving it a distressed look and making it mailable!
I just want to call this beautiful lady 'Marilyn'... although the stamps name is Carol. She reminds me of Marilyn Monroe... so she needed some glam. After coloring with Copics, I highlighted areas with twinklers and added diamond stickles. The ribbon is a blue velvet and the background is polished stone. I used a stamp positioner to get the words in just the right spot! The silver designer brads are by Stampin' UP!
Enjoy your day wherever you are!

Sophisticated Ladies

Hello Friends
I was totally ready to stamp this weekend! I was inspired by a set of Sophisticated Ladies cards by Linda Duke available at Rubbernecker. I saw her series of cards and immediately thought 'My mother would just love those!" so I had to work on my own version of sophisticated ladies cards.

Here are the first two. All my coloring was done with Copics or a combination of Copics and Twinkling H2O's. I added highlights of sparkle with Stickles... which was hard to show you in the pic.
The base layer on the Red and Gold card is a white gold metallic cardstock from Papertemptress that is just beautiful!

On the black, red and white card the base layer is a preprinted paper, I'm sorry the company info was cut off or I would share the source.
I have two more cards in this series that I'd like to share with you tomorrow!
Until then... happy stamping!

Dream for Tomorrow

I was inspired to do a little late night stamping. I started by pulling pieces out of my technique scrap box (a small box where I put sections of backgrounds already made that I know I want to do something with but don't have the time right then). I try not to let the scrap box get too full.
The winged bird was embossed with copper ep on a section of Angels Breath (Technique Junkies Dec. 06), cut out and layered on black cardstock. The middle panel is a section of Scrunchie Art (Technique Junkies Oct. 07) that I die cut with Spellbinders Label 2 Nestabilities. Once cut, I ran the piece through my cuttlebug swirls embossing folder and highlighted with with black ink. The white layer also received a little cuttlebug treatment and was highlighted with copper ink.
Lots of texture to this card!! Hope you enjoy it!

Hummingbird

Hello Friends
I'm not very good at coming up with clever or catchy titles to these entries... plus I'm a little tired from a busy day. So a simple 'hummingbird' it is. I'm practicing with my Copics... which is only making me want more colors!! Is there a cure for this??

Happy Bird-day!

I need more cards in my stash appropriate for kids! This cute little chick by Stampin' UP! is full of bird-day wishes! After basic coloring with markers, I gave him a coat of Stickles glittler glue (my daughter's idea)... now he is rather festive! The colorful little background is a shaving cream technique piece that my friend made. I only had one little square of this piece and wanted to show as much of the color and pattern she obtained as I could. Because I wanted this card to be mailable, I did not add an additional base layer.
I'm off to do a little more fun stamping today!

Soft and Delicate

Hello Friends,
This soft and delicate little Valentine card is going to one of my sweet little daughters next month:)
The front flower panel in this card started as a very different card we made at our monthly stamp club meeting. When I came home to adhere everything together, I saw this watercolor resist background (Technique Junkies Issue Dec. 08) that looked great with it, so I started switching parts around. My local SU demo will be surprised... not surprised that I had to do something different though;)

On My Mind...

I think just about everyone out there has made a New Year's resolution... and possibly broken them by now lol... except me. A good resolution or two has been on my mind but I've been taking my time making a commitment to one.

In my stamping world... there are areas I want to improve and/or grow. I want to 'upgrade' my style without straying too much from natural style. I think all stampers have a style that is comfortable to them... colors and hues they gravitate to... images they prefer... textures or embellishments that make them happy:) This is simply my observation, but I think stampers create their best pieces of artwork when they stay close to their natural style. I guess you could call that stamping from the heart. That doesn't mean we can't grow, try new things or spread those creative wings!
This next year I want to work more with 3-D items and multimedia art. I'm not sure where that will lead me, but I want to go there and find out because I feel it calling my name. I want to see my art put in a frame and hung on my walls. I want curves and lines and things that are out of my box. I want to collage... I love stamped collage work! I want a little sparkle and a little distress. Ok, I'm a woman and I want it all! Forgive my babbling along here... but I'll try to share my journey as I go.
One challenge I've noticed I need to work with this upcoming year is making my cards mailable! As in regular envelopes... without needing to buy padded postal envelopes! I had 3 Christmas cards returned to sender (me!) because they needed extra postage or hand cancelled. Sigh. Most of the cards I need to use personally have to mailed long distance and I want them to get there... and I hate waiting in line at the post office. So I will work on that too.

Wanna see what I got for Christmas?

Hello Friends and Happy New Year!
I was double excited when I opened one of my Christmas presents from hubby this year! I knew what it was in the package since I had to order and wrap it myself... but I wasn't allowed to open anything early. Oh the torture! Wanna see what I got?
I have been wanting some Nestabilities dies for months but the family budget has been too tight for something fun when food needs to be kept on the table ya know? So I patiently waited.... and was finally rewarded:)
One of the best benefits to these dies is that they do not take up a bunch of valuable space! I adhered several business card size magnetics horizontally to the inside of my shelving... since they are metal dies the nestibilities stick right to the magnetic strip taking up no space at all! Isn't that awesome or what?
Oh the fun I will have!!
