Wanna see what I got for Christmas?

Hello Friends and Happy New Year!
I was double excited when I opened one of my Christmas presents from hubby this year! I knew what it was in the package since I had to order and wrap it myself... but I wasn't allowed to open anything early. Oh the torture! Wanna see what I got?
I have been wanting some Nestabilities dies for months but the family budget has been too tight for something fun when food needs to be kept on the table ya know? So I patiently waited.... and was finally rewarded:)
One of the best benefits to these dies is that they do not take up a bunch of valuable space! I adhered several business card size magnetics horizontally to the inside of my shelving... since they are metal dies the nestibilities stick right to the magnetic strip taking up no space at all! Isn't that awesome or what?
Oh the fun I will have!!

Organizing Finished Cards

I needed to spend some time yesterday cleaning and organizing my stamp space. I am fortunate that I have my own delegated stamping area. We converted our garage to work space for my hubby (he gets half the room) and work space for me (I get the other half). My stamp space isn't pretty... but its functional!
One of the big tasks I needed to accomplish was to sort and organize my finished cards. I create about a dozen cards a month. Over the course of a year, I end up with more than a hundred! If I've not used them during the year... they sit in small boxes. Its these boxes of assorted cards (some full cards, some card fronts) that needed my attention.

Once I have totally completed a card including stamping any greeting on the inside and signed the back, it is placed in a 4"x6" cello bag with the proper envelope (sometimes those are stamped too!). These are then sorted by card types... birthday, cards for kids, Christan, thank you, etc. I keep them in a longer box as shown. I still have 20-25 more cards that need to be placed in cello bags with their envy... but I ran out of cello bags!

From here it is easy for me to grab a card and go. Often my kids will pick through my card box for something they need... Or I can easily prepare a box of assorted cards for a gift. Sometimes they are sold at $5 each... less if they are very basic.
I've seen other stampers with much prettier organization systems for their cards.... nice baskets and decorated boxes or lunch box tins are some ideas. I have to really discipline myself just to keep up with this functional system. I hope you have a system that works for you. Take a photo and post the link to your blog... I'd love to see other ideas!

August Organization Plan

Organization and maintenance- Caring for your punches. Use a cotton ball moistened with rubbing alcohol to remove any sticky residue from adhesives. Clean with mild soap and water and dry completely. Punch through aluminum foil to sharpen and then punch through wax paper to lubricate your punches.
Ensure that your storage system is working for you, if not, revamp! Hanging over the door plastic shoe organizers are a very popular storage system for punches. Wicker baskets placed on a table top work well…. Or plastic shoe storage containers.

July Organization Plan

Organization and Maintenance- Begin a cleaning and organizing of your rubber stamps. If you store your stamps in plastic cases or CD cases, clean the outsides of your case with a mild soapy cloth and dry. If you store unmounteds or acrylic stamps in a binder, clean the surfaces of the binder pages and binder itself. Look at the rubber surface of your stamps for any that need cleaning. Use a cleaning solution designed for rubberstamps as they often contain conditioners and can prolong the life of your stamp. An inexpensive toothbrush can get into little crevices especially for pigment ink residue.
If your stamps need to be conditioned (they will feel stiff and appear dry, like an old car tire) apply a thin coat of glycerin to the rubber side, let set overnight then wipe clean.
Ensure that any stamp set names, stamp company copyrights or identification labels are secure or create new labels if needed.
